THE KING AND I

“The King and I,” finished its run on Sunday the 17 th of October, delighting audiences with pure professionalism. With Peter Mitchell's gifted direction, and his choice of such a talented cast, he created the pure essence of Eastern promise. Peter Height and Joanne McCaffety, made a perfect Anna and The King, the costumes and the scenery captured the mystery of the customs of Siam in days gone by. Margaret Evans as Lady Thiang, Ismael Romero Clark, and Oriane Fievet (the ill fated lovers), all sang with such sensitivity. This combined with an excellent supporting cast, adorable children, some of the best songs of any musical, fact, fiction, freedom and slavery, made the perfect ingredients for another magical evening at The Salon Varietés Theatre.
