LADIES NIGHTThe International smash hit comedy Ladies Night by Stephen Sinclair and Anthony McCarten played the Salon Varietes for five nights, from November 4th-8th
Ladies Night tells the story of a group of unemployed men who decide that, as red-blooded males they know what women want, and form the country’s first strip group made up of REAL men. Their act, however, leaves a lot to be desired until they meet Glenda. With her help the guys are whipped into shape and she helps them to put together a show that has everything a woman looking for a good night out could dream of. It was said of one critic “I have never seen a show where night after night, audiences, both male and female, laughed until they cried. These characters are real, we’ve all met someone like them in our lives and that is part of the play’s immense appeal”.
Peter Brooks directed a superb cast including Stephen Burns, Beef Constantine, George du Sel, Henrik Hagensen, Nigel Radford, Geoffrey Stansfield with Christine Morton as Glenda. But it is fair to say that the show was virtually stolen by Owain Griffiths and his frock which was artful designed and created by Siân Hopkins. Jemma Hawkins choreographed ten original dance routines and with the set by John Pyne, Lighting by Dave Carney and Nik Prescott on sound
the audience reaction every night was tremendous - with standing ovations and everybody having a great time.
